soft rays: 5 - 6. Last unbranched ray of dorsal fin thorny with posterior serration; anterior barbels well developed, mostly reaching over anterior side of operculum (Ref. 27628). Dorsal side of body brown-green colored, ventral side silver; unpaired fins are brown-yellow, paired fins uncolored; sometimes a darker lateral line can be seen on adults, replaced by spots in young (Ref. 27628).
