Anterior margin of pectoral fin spine not serrate; first anal spine base situated below 34th-36th dorsal fin rays; total gill raker bases with a long spine 13-18; highest point of supraoccipital crest situated vertically above posterior margin of eye; strong pigmentation on anterior section of dorsal fin membrane; dorsal margin of head concave, in lateral view, rises gently from snout tip to a vertical through middle of orbit then extending more steeply to dorsal fin origin; preanal length 29-32% TL; head length 11-12% TL; upper jaw length 4% TL; predorsal length 7-8% TL (Ref. 49863).
