Dorsal spines (total): 2; Dorsal soft rays (total): 7-9; Anal spines: 1 - 2; Anal soft rays: 6 - 7. Can be distinguished by the following combination of characters: anal fin with 6 branched rays, rarely 7; scales in a lateral series 42, rarely 40-41, or 43-45; 10-11 gill rakers in the first arch; a dark lateral stripe widens from approximately the pectoral fin origin to the dorsal fin origin, forming a slightly convex segment (Ref. 84762).
