Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 16-17; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 9 - 10; Vertebrae: 42 - 43. Diameter of orbit equal to or greater than length of snout. Fourth dorsal fin ray longest, but not elongated into a filament. In males, anterior part of dorsal fin with a large reddish blotch and a yellowish band on anal fin.
