Dorsal spines (total): 0; Dorsal soft rays (total): 12-18; Anal spines: 0; Anal soft rays: 16 - 27. Body depth increasing with size of fish, belly sharply keeled, with 9 to 12 + 6 to 9 scutes. Pre-maxillae long and toothed; second supra-maxilla as long as or longer than blade of maxilla. Pectoral axillary scale at least 1/3 length of fin. No grey or silvery stripe along flank (Ref. 188). Last 2 rays of anal fin not forming a separate finlet (Ref. 43281).
